About Steve

Steve is a Lead Pastor and has 25 years of full time ministry experience. He is a Spiritual Care Professional in the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and holds sixteen hundred hours of supervised ministry in CPE. He studied Family Systems Theory and theology in Grad school and has since integrated his chaplain experience, systems theory and pastoral experience into a set of tools anyone can practice. 

Steve starts by helping you notice, name and move through anxiety and pressure in yourself, going from reactive to calm and aware. He then equips you to notice anxiety spreading in groups and how to not only de-escalate it, but build cultural health.   

Steve has been using and teaching these tools internationally on 4 continents for over a decade and they have allowed him to thrive in a high pressure, rapid growth leadership context.

Steve knows internal and relational pressure, the spinning mind, resistance to change, sabotage, facing criticism and struggling with the breadth of skill required. He also knows the power of the Gospel first for the leader, and how healthy leadership can ‘infect’ unhealthy situations to create healthy culture. 

The tools Steve has learned and forged have been hard fought and they work. in 2019, these tools became the Harper Collins book Managing Leadership Anxiety: Yours and Theirs.

Capable Life is your opportunity for a lived experience of these tools. They are better practiced than read about. Steve’s deepest desire is for leaders to use these tools to find the peace, freedom and love they so eloquently share with others. 

What the Kids are Saying

You can expect to put in 30 minutes per week. Approximately 20 minutes of that will be watching video modules and 10 minutes will be online discussion. 

If you battle triggers, recurring pressures, false needs. If you struggle wit any relationships in your life, this can help you. 

You can do as little or as much as you like, but the old cliche is true, the more you put in, the more you get out. We encourage 'externalization' and 'brave practice' to experience deeper transformation. In other words, you gain more by talking about it than just hearing about it. And trying new concepts will really help you. 

You can still participate. We will record the zoom and make it available for viewing on your own time.
